ZATCA e-invoicing compliance
Every invoice FlyTaq issues includes the required ZATCA QR code and the mandated VAT invoice fields, in accordance with the Kingdom's e-invoicing regulations. This page explains what that means in practice.
Overview
FlyTaq complies with ZATCA's Phase 1 (Generation) e-invoicing requirements, part of the Kingdom's e-invoicing initiative known locally as Fatoorah. Every invoice we issue is an electronic tax invoice generated at the point of sale, with the fields and QR code the regulation requires.
Each invoice carries a TLV-encoded QR code containing the seller's name, VAT registration number, invoice timestamp, the invoice total including VAT, and the VAT amount, so it can be scanned and read by any ZATCA-compatible reader.
VAT registration
FlyTaq is registered for Value Added Tax in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under VAT registration number registration pending — shown on official invoices.
Domestic vs. international VAT treatment
VAT is charged on the jet cost of domestic flights where both the departure and arrival airports are located within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The applicable rate is the standard rate in force at the time of supply.
International charters — where the flight crosses the border of the Kingdom — may qualify for zero-rating under Article 33 of the VAT Implementing Regulations, subject to the conditions set out in that Article being met and documented. Where zero-rating applies, this is clearly indicated on the invoice.
FlyTaq's platform commission and related service fees are invoiced and taxed separately from the jet cost, in accordance with the nature of each supply and the relevant VAT guidance.
What each invoice contains
Every FlyTaq invoice includes: a unique sequential invoice number; the invoice issue date and time; the seller's legal name, VAT number and address; the buyer's name, VAT number (where applicable) and address; a clear description of the supply; the VAT-exclusive amount, the VAT amount and the VAT-inclusive total; the VAT category and rate; and a TLV-encoded QR code.
The PDF invoice provided to you is the authoritative record, with a human-readable summary alongside the QR code that any ZATCA-compatible reader can verify.
Simplified Tax Invoices
Simplified Tax Invoices may be issued for certain low-value ancillary services where permitted by the regulation. Where a Simplified Tax Invoice is issued, it still carries the QR code the regulation requires.
How to retrieve your invoices
All invoices issued in your name are available in your FlyTaq dashboard under Payments → Download, as a human-readable PDF carrying the QR code.
If you cannot locate an invoice, or need it re-issued to a different legal entity before a tax period closes, please contact tax@flytaq.com promptly — re-issuance after a return has been filed requires a formal credit note rather than a replacement.
Record retention
FlyTaq retains tax invoices and their supporting payment records for a minimum of seven (7) years, in line with the retention rules set by ZATCA (successor to GAZT) and the general record-keeping requirements of the Kingdom.
Records are kept on access-controlled infrastructure with restricted internal access. If you need independent confirmation of a specific record's integrity, contact tax@flytaq.com.
Refunds and credit notes
Where a booking is cancelled, amended or refunded in a way that changes the VAT position of an already-issued invoice, contact our finance team at tax@flytaq.com — they will issue the appropriate credit note, or where applicable a debit note, referencing the original invoice number and reason.
Keep both the original invoice and any credit or debit note you receive together for your own records.
ZATCA portal
If you wish to verify the authenticity of a FlyTaq invoice, scan the QR code with any ZATCA-compatible reader, or log in to the ZATCA portal using your own taxpayer credentials.
